I’m Hannah.

I'm continuously intrigued and amazed by the ways in which birth unfolds and parents intuitively care for their babies. I believe every parent is the right parent for their baby and that we often just need a bit of encouragement to confidently trust what innately feels best to us as parents. This begins with your journey to conception, throughout pregnancy, and our years parenting our children. It’s a gift to be invited into your family’s parenting journey.

I arrived in this moment with and because of my two daughters.

After studying Human Development and Family Studies at The University of Alabama, completing a Masters of Social Work at Baylor University, and becoming a Licensed Masters Social Worker I wanted deeply to support pregnant and new parents; however, my career ambitions told me I shouldn’t specialize too early. It was only after the birth of my first daughter that I felt it was essential to switch gears and begin working with parents.

As a new mom, I was grateful to find Natural Resources, a pregnancy and parenting resource center for families in San Francisco. Beginning in Fall 2019, I had the privilege of managing the education department, learning from over 30 seasoned facilitators, and watching the ways in which our core classes changed the way families experienced pregnancy and postpartum. In Spring 2020 I completed a 28 hour Baby Wearing Education training, which enabled me to create and facilitate a Baby Wearing Basics Course. I have since adapted this class and now offer it monthly at Grandview Hospital here in Birmingham. Held -  A Pregnancy Circle was also born from this season. The circle was developed by two Natural Resources’ facilitators for mamas experiencing pregnancy during the pandemic. It was graciously passed to me, and I’ve had the privilege of recreating the circle to best fit my strengths and experience to offer pregnant mothers a beautiful moment to honor their transformation.

When my family moved back to Alabama from San Francisco, I was ready to begin working one-to-one with families. I completed a Birth Doula Training with Natural Resources in April 2021. Immediately following completion of Doula training, I was pregnant with my second daughter. I spent this time intentionally celebrating this pregnancy and anticipating what life would be like with two little ones. I had a surreal homebirth to welcome my second daughter into our family. I attended my first birth as a Doula in February 2023.

Since that first birth, I have attended over 30 births and marvel at the unique path each labor follows. My intention is to gently hold families from pregnancy through postpartum. Whether we meet in Held - A Pregnancy Circle or Held - A Baby Wearing Meetup, I will see you exactly as you are so you feel held in your parenting journey.
